Radiata Pine Thermowood Half Lap Cladding

Thermally treated cladding, machined from the finest quality Radiata Pine, is a perfect alternative to Western Red Cedar and Scandinavian Redwood Thermowood. This Radiata Pine is virtually clear of knots and comes with a dark brown colour that eventually fades to a grey/charcoal colour, which gives it a great contemporary look that is an asset to any project's aesthetic.

The growth rings on the timber are wide and very distinguishable and the timber is generally quite uniform in grain structure.  As mentioned before, it can be used internally or externally and features all the great characteristics of ThermoWood; superior weather resistance, exceptional decay resistance and great thermal insulation. The moisture content of these boards rests around 7-10% thanks to its kiln drying process, thanks to which it has high resistance to decay and fungal attacks. This cladding is chemical free making it an eco-friendly option compared to some other options on the market.

The stunning brown colour can be retained by treating the boards with a UV filtered, pigmented/tinted wood oil, wax, stain, varnish or stain, otherwise it will weather to a silver grey.

Due to the thermal treatment, the timber will become slightly more susceptible to splitting or cracking when fixing, so we recommend using self-tapping screws with a coarse thread or alternatively pre drill holes beforehand making sure the screws are stainless steel and suitable for wood fixing.

First Grade - only the clearest (most knot free) boards with the straightest grain possible. Perfect choice for modern and contemporary applications.

For Character Grade equivalent, please take a look at our Redwood Thermowood Cladding options.

End Matching (Tongue and Groove) will allow you to place joints where they fall, instead of on the stud, allowing you to finsh the job more quickly without sacrificing on quality and minimise wastage.

We offer the following section sizes:

      • 142mm x 20mm - The overall width is 142mm, with the visible face measuring 132mm

Our Thermowood cladding comes in random lengths between 1200mm and 3600mm, and is priced per square meter. Set lengths are available for extra:

      • Set lengths up to 3500mm - £4 ex VAT per square meter
      • Set lengths above 3500mm - £8 ex VAT per square meter

This can be done by giving our sales team a call at 01536 267107 and placing the order over the phone.

The visible face is 10mm less to account for the joint.

If the boards are exposed to varying weather conditions before fitting, please be aware that this can lead to cupping, warping and twisting of the boards. The ideal time to fit the cladding to keep this to a minimum is between the months of October and April, with the fitting being done within 7-14 days of delivery.

Please be aware that sizes are subject to change in response to changes in moisture levels. Cladding will be kiln-dried to approximately an 7-10% moisture content prior to machining, but may vary between production and installation on site. Cladding will be dispatched at given sizes, but a margin of error should be used when producing cladding layout drawings for expansion and contraction in the timber.

Please contact our Sales Team on 01536 267107 should you have any issues.

Still unsure? We offer up to two samples of our cladding boards for a £5 inc VAT postage charge here. Should you wish to then purchase cladding boards that are the same product as your samples, we will reimburse you the £5 postage charge upon ordering!*
