Our Douglas Fir V Tongue and Groove Cladding is the perfect option if you're looking for that classic 'T&G' appearance for your cladding project, combined with the inherent durability and beautiful grain of Douglas Fir, exceptional weather resistance, and a budget-friendly alternative to our oak claddings.
Douglas Fir showcases a remarkable array of color variations, ranging from pinks and browns to creams, depending on the section of the tree that is harvested. Some dark brown knots may become loose as the wood dries, occasionally leading to resin patches that might seep initially and sometimes during the hotter summer months. Thanks to its exceptionally high resin content, Douglas Fir can be twice as durable as regular pine, establishing it as an exceptionally strong and resilient species.
Similar to the traditional T&G profile, these boards are joined by inserting the tongue into the groove. The chamfered edges at both the top and bottom enhance the individual boards, creating a delicate 'V' shadow line at the joints. What sets this profile apart from the Tongue and Groove design is its reversibility, allowing either side to be utilized. Depending on your aesthetic preference, they can be installed either horizontally or vertically; if you opt for horizontal installation, it is advisable to position the boards with the tongue facing up to ensure that moisture can drain away from the tongue.
This machined cladding is recommended for external use only. If exposed to varying weather conditions before fitting your boards, they are likely to cup, warp and split; the ideal time to fit cladding to keep this to a minimum is between the months of October and April and within 7 to 14 days of delivery.
Your boards will be supplied untreated. No treatments are required, however if you wish to preserve the supplied colour or use a weather resistant sealant, please take a look at our Treatex range. Should you wish to leave it to age gracefully, it will eventually turn to a beautiful silvery grey colour as the suns rays do their work.
We offer the following section size:
The face size is less 10mm to account for the tongue joint.
Ready to fix and available in two options - First and Character Grade:
End-Matching (Tongue and Groove) will allow you to place joints where they fall, instead of on the stud, allowing you to finish the job more quickly without sacrificing on quality and helps minimise wastage.
This profile is priced per square metre and comes in random lengths between 1200mm and 3600mm unless specified for an additional charge:
