Our carefully machined Air-Dried Oak Half Lap External Cladding is the perfect choice for a clean, contemporary finish with impeccable weather protection. Unlike shiplap, with its distinctive shadow lines, the Half Lap profile offers a smoother finish with a slimmer shadow gap, making it ideal for contemporary builds or extensions.
This oak is air-dried for 3-5 years to a lower moisture content (20-30%) than fresh-sawn cladding, which makes it more stable and less prone to shrinkage.
Grades & Appearance:
Character Grade: Features a rustic mix of sound knots, color variation, and natural imperfections.
First Grade: Offers a cleaner, more contemporary look with straighter grain and fewer knots.
End-Matched for Faster Installation: End-matching with a tongue and groove profile allows you to join boards between studs, which speeds up installation and reduces waste without sacrificing quality.
Important Notes:
Dimensions: Available in 115mm and 142mm widths, with a visible face of 105mm and 132mm respectively.
Treatment: Supplied untreated, no treatment is required. It will naturally weather to a beautiful silvery-gray. You can apply a Treatex sealant to preserve its initial color.
Pricing: Priced per square metre in random lengths (1200mm to 3600mm). Set lengths are available for an additional charge.
Installation: We recommend fitting the cladding between October and April, and within 7-14 days of delivery, to minimize natural movement.
