The Scandinavian Redwood Thermowood Channel Siding Cladding is the ultimate cladding option for use inside and outside your space. Featuring a beautiful golden brown color that gradually shifts to a dark grey/charcoal tone, it presents a stylish and modern cladding solution that requires no extra oiling or painting to achieve its look. For those who prefer, UV oil can be utilized to keep the golden brown shade intact.
Even though Thermowood requires no further treatment, as it is a modified wood subjected to high-temperature heat treatment in a kiln, it can be easily stained like any standard planed softwood. This technique dries out the wood's core, removing moisture and resin from the board, and brings the moisture content down to around 7-10%. This enhances its physical properties, rendering it much more stable than other softwoods. Furthermore, this process provides high resistance to decay and fungal attacks. Because the drying process involves only heat and water, the cladding is free from chemicals, making it a more eco-friendly option compared to various other materials on the market.
Redwood Thermowood can be knotty naturally even after planing though it doesn't affect the material's durability, though we do advise that you should allow an extra 10% on top of usual wastage amounts as the kiln drying process can mean the cladding is prone to splitting. This does not affect the integrity of the cladding but it is something that needs to be taken into consideration as with all kiln dried softwoods.
Ready to fix and available in two options - First and Character Grade:
End-Matching (Tongue and Groove) will allow you to place joints where they fall, instead of on the stud, allowing you to finish the job more quickly without sacrificing on quality and helps minimise wastage.
We offer the following section sizes:
Priced per square metre and supplied in random lengths between 1200mm and 3600mm unless otherwise specified for an additional charge:
The visible face size is 15mm less to account for the joint.
If your boards are exposed to varying weather conditions before fitting, they are likely to cup, warp and split; the ideal time to fit cladding to keep this to a minimum is between the months of October and April and within 7 to 14 days of delivery.
Please be aware that sizes are subject to change in response to changes in moisture levels. Cladding will be kiln-dried to approximately an 7-10% moisture content prior to machining, but may vary between production and installation on site. Cladding will be dispatched at given sizes, but a margin of error should be used when producing cladding layout drawings for expansion and contraction in the timber.
