Please be aware that Planed All Round (PAR) and Planed All Round and Chamfered will have an up to 6mm reduction in width and thickness after planing from the stated section size.
Our Air Dried Structural European Oak Beams are dried for at least 36 months and generally longer, therefore due to there lower moisture content compared to that of our Fresh Sawn (Green) Oak they are more stable and less prone to movement and cracking, making them perfect for all internal structural uses such as mantel pieces, window frames and restorations.
Your beams will show some splits, possibly a little sap and some historic bore holes - all of these characteristics make our Air-Dried Oak Beams one of the most popular ways of adding character to a new build or renovation, as well as not detracting from its structural qualities.
If you're using our oak beams to construct a timber frame, take a look at our Octagonal Oak Dowels or our Rounded Oak Dowels. When your frame begins to dry out further and shrink, the joints will tighten giving you a structurally sound frame.
